![]() ![]() However you do it you’ll want to keep up a map because that leads to floor shortcuts. Then I just need to fill out miscellaneous stuff. I don’t care for manually drawing everything so there’s also an auto-map option where it will draw the floors and walls of the square you’re currently standing on. You can draw lines for walls, paint squares for floors, and there are several icons you can use to fill the map as you see fit. With the 3DS’s stylus it’s pretty easy to draw out the map on the bottom screen. Mapping the Labyrinth (and the ruins) is a key focus of gameplay. The voice tells him that using and mastering the power of Fafnir will be critical for the fate of the land. This form amplifies his powers and grants some new ones. ![]() Then, during a fight, he transforms into a humanoid monster, the Fafnir. During the first trip there Ron hears a strange voice calling out to him. The general flow is that the guild explores some of Ginnugagap, finds an obstruction, and has to go into the Labyrinth in order to find what they need to get past it.įinally, Ron is connected to this ritual and Ginnugagap by a mysterious power. Also there are the Ginnugagap Ruins where Arianna has to perform her ritual.Įven Arianna doesn’t know much about the ritual beyond that it’s apparently done every 100 years and is very important. Nobody’s ever been to the top but there’s a thriving culture of explorers in guilds who get as far as they can. There is a vast Labyrinth filled with treasures, materials, and monsters leading to the top of the Tree. High Laagard is known for being at the base of the Yggdrasil Tree. Shortly after meeting her they also meet two more adventurers, Bertrand and Chloe, who join their budding guild (which I named Sorisgard). There they are to guard her as she goes to perform some important ritual. ![]() They’ve been assigned to meet the daughter of the duke of Caledonia, Arianna, at a place called High Laagard. As adults they’re members of the library’s investigation team. The protagonist (I named him Ron so I’ll just refer to him as such from here on out) and his friend Flavio are orphans who grew up in the Midgard Library. Though perhaps sometime in the future I’ll have to give EO4 another chance. I believe that’s been a big part of why I’ve been enjoying EO2U more than EO4 as I’ve really liked EO2U’s characters so far. The Untold games give a Story mode where they pick your party for you but then give these characters lines, including voice acting. In the originals they follow the old RPG conventions of you pick who is all in your party but because of that they have no lines or characterization. Beyond typical remake enhancements like added gameplay features it seems like the Untold games have had an additional story mode added to them. It seems like the first two EO games have remakes with “Untold” attached to their names. Which brings me to what I know of the “Untold” part in this title’s name. I think one of the big differences was that EO2U has more of a story and character development for your party members. Nevertheless, I gave EO2U a try and liked it. I remember the EO4 demo didn’t really grab me and so I thought the EO series wasn’t for me. I have no experience or knowledge of the Etrian Odyssey series besides this game and a brief stint playing the Etrian Odyssey 4 demo. Abandon all hope, ye who enter. This is one of the games I played a demo of sometime ago off the 3DS eShop. You CaN GeT VaRiouS iTeMs, aND TuRN oN GeoMaG FLaGS. Unlike the equivalent quest in Etrian Odyssey Untold, it also features some. In particular, there is the "Debug Quest" with ID 0 ( QUE_000), which still has its associated quest data files inside the Event\Quest directory. Various files in the main archive's Event directory still contain references to unused quests. Check all quest files in more details, only really checked for the debug quest. ![]()
